In the beginning of XX century Victor, an italian immigrant just tourned sixteen, starts a jurney through the ocean, destination: Nuova York.

Starvation, hope of better salary and the imminent war make millions of eropean cross the ocean by real carts of the sea. It is the jurney from the italian countryside to the Island of tears, Ellis Island. The ocean stop quite a few times the dreams and the hopes of the immigrants. Thousand of european most of which were italian dies in the sea.

The story of the boy and History mix with each other thank to the use of immages, photographs, sounds and words.

The Estonian violinist Maarja Nut will select and performe the music. She will interchange traditional songs coming from incontaminated villages and fabulous baltics with rivisited sounds and electronic musics.

The performance will show the hardships of million of european which found themself face reality trying to find a better future and it leave the conclusions to the audience.

Maarja Nuut (guest) 

Maarja Nuut is a fiddler and singer from Nothern Estonia who is fascinated by the tunes of old village musicians and mind-boggling but at the same time structured patterns. The minimalistic sounds of the looper take the listeners on an imaginary journey over the constantly changing soundscapes which combine traditional dance tunes, songs and stories with live elettronics.

Her music has been described as peaceful but not in the lazy inactive sense. In her music, she is searching for a lively and relaxed state similar to a cat that is ready to take off in a moment's notice.  It is always “now” and old tunes are as fresh as improvisations wich were born a second ago”. This is how she tells us her intimate stories using fiddles, her voice and modern electronics.

Divertparty performances are produced as an “unicum” . their plots have a lot of scene changes, the event itself is a combination of music and theatre plays that can be modified every time , as there are many and different guests coming on stage .

Usually the band has the guest’s role therefore each event is different from the previous one by making the show developing during the time passing.

Beppe Castelluzzo , the inventor of Divertparty has taken some traditional performances as a starting point to introduce new original elements. The performances are characterized by a surrealistic atmosphere and have a metaphysical connotation .
